Richard Drue Kilburn

Drue was born and raised in Austin, attending McCallum High School. He completed accounting school before serving in the US Navy, stationed in Japan. After returning from service, he pursued his career in accounting, earning his CPA in 1975. He started his own practice in the early 80’s and retired in 2014.

He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, reading and taking jaunts in the countryside. He was a World War II history buff and enjoyed learning about the historical weapons and battles. He served as a Church Treasurer and Deacon in churches he attended.

He passed peacefully after a 3- year battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents W.P. and Ruby Kilburn, his brothers Wesley and Steve and sister Lavida.

He is survived by Brenda, his wife of 51 years; daughter Robin Quintana (Eric), and son David (Wendy), and grandchildren Caitlyn, Ethan, Kaden, Zane, and Symone.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Drue's life will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM.
