Richard "R.H." was born in Niederwald, Texas on January 10, 1937 to Christina and Richard H. Heidemeyer, Sr. He graduated from Lockhart High School as well as Nixon-Clay Commercial College. He served in the Army Reserves for 21 years. He started his banking career of 44 years at Austin National Bank and rose to the position of Sr. Vice President with Bank of America. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Ann Heidemeyer. Also surviving are his sons, Ron (LaDonna), Richard (Susan), David (Connie), and daughter, Christine (Matt) who have always known him as a loving and devoted father; he was known to his grandchildren, Dana, Derek, Kalea, Justin, Alexis, Spencer, Megan, Chase, Audrey and great grandchild, Jackson, as "Paw Paw."
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the medical staff at St. David's South Austin Medical Center and the Hospice Team at Christopher House for their loving care and comfort in his last days.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 24th at 3:00 p.m. at Abiding Love Lutheran Church in Oak Hill. Pastor Lynnae Sorensen will be officiating. Flowers brought to the church will be donated to Hospice Austin's Christopher House in his honor.
