Richard Wayne Graves

Rick was born on January 31, 1973, to parents Richard and Dixie (Mings) Graves of Austin, Texas. In 1979, Rick moved to San Antonio, Texas, with his family and graduated from Taft High School in San Antonio in 1992. Following graduation, Rick moved back to Austin, Texas, where he remained until his passing.

Rick loved being around family and friends. He was happy, laughing and smiling when surrounded by those he loved and he had a special love for his daughter Maya. Rick was also generous to anyone needing a hand, even when he had limited resources for himself. Rick easily made friends and could start up a conversation that made even strangers feel like a long time friend. Rick also loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping and snowboarding. Rick and Maya were his mom’s skiing buddies.

Rick is survived by his parents, Richard and Dixie, of San Antonio; his brother, David, and wife, Carolyn, of San Antonio; and his daughter, Maya, of Cedar Park. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and a nephew.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Cook-Walden / Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Immediately following, the family will receive friends during a reception in Forest Oak's event room.
