Rexford Hooks Wiginton passed into the final frontier on the morning of August 22nd, at 10:12 a.m. He was born and raised in Longview, TX. He served 3 years in the army as an armor crewman in Troop E, 2nd Squadron, class SP4 E-4, from 1964 to 1967. Rex was honorably discharged and earned a National Defense Service medal. He then earned a Masters of Business Admin. degree at UT Austin in May 1972. He was married to his beautiful wife Beate for 45 years, from Sept. 22, 1967 until she passed away on Sept. 23, 2012. Rex supported his family well; he worked at Texas Parks and Wildlife for 29 years as a systems analyst. He was dependable, kind, and always willing to help those in need. He found the grace of Jesus shortly before succumbing to a long illness.
He is survived by his sister, Francis Anderson, daughter, Kathia Heffley, son-in-law, Jon Heffley, and grandchildren: Jon Patrick, Audrey, Lily, Laura May, Thomas, and one on the way. His family is very grateful for the exceptional care and love of his caretakers, Maria Gonzales and Geneva Martinez.
Rex was loved and will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday morning, Aug. 25, at 10:30 a.m., at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
