He was born to his mother Porfri Ramos Hernandez and was one of 16 children.
He is survived by his wife Rosie Mendez Hernandez, his children Raymond Jr. and Maura Hernandez, and his grandchildren Jonathan Michael Hernandez, Joshua David Hernandez, Fabian Lee Walker, Jorge Alberto Rangel III, Jazmin Nicole Rangel, Mason Omar Mendoza, and great grandson Angelo Lee Walker.
Raymond graduated from Austin High and was soon drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War, receiving multiple medals. He was later honorably discharged in 1974.
He spent his life as a devoted husband for 40 years, during which he was blessed to be a loving father, grandfather and cared for his many children, grandchildren, and great grandchild.
He enjoyed watching football and taking long naps with his dog Blondee, but his main passion was music. He knew how to play multiple instruments including guitar and piano, his favorite being the drums.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
