Ray was born February 19, 1930 in Taylor, Texas, and died July 10, 2015 at his beloved home, as he wished. He loved his Taylor roots and was always proud to have been a Taylor Duck. Ray attended Southwestern University in Georgetown. After transferring to the University of Texas at Austin, Ray earned both his BA and Masters degrees. He taught high school English in Seguin, served in the Texas National Guard, and worked for Farmers Insurance. Ray then started with the University of Texas System. He ended his thirty-year career with them as the Assistant Director of Human Resources.
Ray was an avid gardener. He was also very talented, and enjoyed performing, music, and theater. Ray had many friends and was much loved by them and his family. At any gathering, he was sure to be the life of the party. Ray is survived by his brother-in-law John Dudgeon; nieces and nephews Linda Ewan (Robert), Hardy Dudgeon (Robin), Alice Reynolds, John Dudgeon (Karen), Clare Wylie Holley (Edwin) and Kenton Wylie (Margot), and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by partner Jack Wesenberg, sisters Betty Ann Dudgeon and Wanda Wylie and her husband Billy, and parents S.V. (Solomon) and Inez Robertson.
The family expresses their gratitude to the team that lovingly cared for Ray and allowed him to enjoy his last years at home: Patra French Marshall, Marilyn Wilson, Rolanda Smart, Steve Estrada, James McDade, and also many of Pat's extended family.
