Randy Dell Powell passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011 at 9:10 am at the age of 63. He was born in Austin, TX on September 20th, 1947 to Marvin Dean Powell and Verda Mae Powell.
Randy was preceded in life by his father, Marvin Dean Powell and is survived by his mother, Verda Mae Powell; his brother, Gerald Powell and wife Tina; his son, Cody Powell; daughter, Alison Leah Hasenoehrl and husband Jason; grandchildren, Clara Jo Powell, Logan Nathaniel Scott Powell, and Dash Wilson Troy Powell.
He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy Reserve as a Machinist's Mate aboard the U.S.S. Dubuque. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal and received an Honorable Discharge on the 15th of September, 1971.
Randy was a Machinist by trade and worked long hours to provide for his family. He was employed by Texas Industries for 30 plus years where he had many friends not just at work but outside of it as well. He spent his leisure time as an avid outdoors man, fishing with his best friend Cecil Hall, hunting with his brother, son, and nephew, boating and camping with his family, and target shooting just for fun. When he wasn't doing these things he enjoyed sitting out on the front porch swing watching the trains and wildlife go by. Randy always had a good sense of humor and maintained it until his final days. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all that knew and loved him.
The family would like to give thanks to Vista Care Hospice for their compassion and continued support of the family through these trying times.
Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Ridgeway Cemetery, Paige, Texas.
