They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
This was indeed one of Ramon’s favorite Bible verses.
Ramon Gaona of Austin, Texas passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the age of 63. He battled courageously against cancer for 18 months.
Ramon was born on November 17, 1954, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, where he met and married his wife Silvia.
He lived in Brownsville, Texas shortly before moving to Austin, Texas with his wife and children in 1993.
Ramon and Silvia raised 3 children, Sergio Antonio, Silvia Viridiana and Ramon Alejandro. Sadly, the Lord took their youngest son’s life at the age of 9 due to an illness; this was a very hard time for the Gaonas, but their strong love and support for each other kept them together.
Ramon was a father and a husband like no other. He had a passion for cooking and gardening. He enjoyed making delicious meals for his family and friends. He was the life of the party. He made friends easily and loved telling jokes to everyone.
He loved spending time with his family, from taking short trips to simply going to the grocery store, where he would often wander off and usually would be found eating samples as he really enjoyed eating all kinds of food.
He was a great father, mentor, teacher, adviser and friend. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He is survived by his wife Silvia, his son Sergio and daughter Silvia.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M., at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 10:00 A.M., at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
