Rae Janice Triggs 18 July 1931 7 June 2005 Rae Janice Triggs passed away peacefully on June 7, 2005, at home. She was born July 18, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter of Ralph Ibson Richardson and Dorothy Mildred Graves. Rae grew up as a lignite coal mine owners daughter in Beulah, North Dakota, graduating as Valedictorian from Beulah High School. In 1950, she received an Associate of Arts degree from Stephens College, Columbia Missouri, where she was on the staff of the college newspaper The Stephens Life. In 1952, Rae graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Spanish and a minor in Art, from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. She had been an active member of Kappa Delta Social Sorority, Spanish Club; Beta Phi Gamma Honorary Junior College, Journalism Group; and Phi Delta Kappa Junior Honorary Scholastic Group. Her life-long interest in Mexican folk art began while attending the Stephens College group for study at Monterrey Tec in 1949. Later she traveled to South America and was entranced by the landscape and culture. In 1953 Rae moved to Austin, Texas in search for a warmer climate. She took up employment as a phone receptionist in the Office of Buildings and Grounds, University of Texas at Austin and later as a legal Secretary in a local law firm. On September 10, 1955 she married Lt. Edward Elmer Triggs a fighter pilot stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base. Her daughter Teal Ann was born in 1957 with her sons Casey Richard in 1959, and Riley Grant 1967. As her three children grew up she played an active role in local school and club activities. When Teal was given her first dolls house, Raes passion for all things miniature was sparked. Thenceforward she collected miniature artifacts, dolls and dolls houses from around the world, amassing a collection of museum quality. For over twenty years she was actively involved as a member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME); Society of American Miniaturists (SAM) and as a founding member of the Lone Star Miniature club. She was equally committed to the local community and in recent years was involved as a member of the Zilker Garden Club and as their Council Representative in the Austin Area Garden Council. An avid reader, she had a love of mystery stories leading her to join the Readin & Eatin Book Club. She loved to travel abroad visiting countries including the UK, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Italy, South America, and Mexico. She is survived by her children Teal Ann Triggs and her partner Roger Sabin; Casey Richard Triggs and his wife Laura and children Travis and Taylor; Riley Grant Triggs and his wife Stephanie.
