He was born April 17th, 1938, in Newton, Massachusetts to Tom Hadsell and Marion (Hadsell) Hahn. He was a graduate of Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School and Hobart College, and obtained a Master’s Degree in Medieval History from The University of St Andrews. Peter also served in the United States Navy Reserve and was honorably discharged at the rank of Lieutenant.
Peter worked as the Director of Admissions at Hobart and William Smith College. Then worked as a guidance counselor and a teacher at Blair and as a teacher at Taipei American School. Peter also worked as an administrative assistant at Habitat for Humanity, Austin, and at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Austin.
While at Blair, Peter made long-lasting friendships among both faculty and students. He was admired and beloved by all who knew him. One might say he was the school’s "Mr. Chips". Peter was a life-long enthusiastic student, a mentor, and quintessential teacher.
He is survived by a brother, Tim Hadsell, and sisters Sara (Hahn) Beam, Sue Hadsell and Jill (Blackburn) Hadsell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Peter are invited to St. David’s Episcopal Church, 301 E 8th Street, Austin, Texas, for a memorial service on September 14th at 11:00 AM. Peter will also receive military honors and be interred at The National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts later in the Fall.
Donations in Peter’s name can be made to Austin Habitat for Humanity, Austin Pets Alive!, or St. David’s Episcopal Church, Austin.
