
I'll always remember his sharp wit and gentle nature. He was a real genuine person with a big heart and loved to laugh. I'm sure everyone that knew him will miss him.



Throughout your life you meet very few people like Paul.  he was in the truest sense of the word, a gentleman.  He had a quick , wry sense of humor, and never took himself too seriously.  He was always kind and courteous to everyone.  In the last two years Paul moved to Rockford, not far from his boyhood home in Harvard.  It was our privilege to be be of some assistance to him in his daily life.  Up to the last he touched the lives of many.  he will be greatly missed by all.



Oh how my family loved Dr. Schedler!  He was our family doctor from the early 1960's til he left to do missionary work. He made home visits and went beyond the call of duty always. He made us laugh and even made me unafraid to see a doctor. He operated on me when I was 14, and I'm sure my parents would not have allowed anyone else to do so. I remember many encounters with him...what he said and how I was treated as an important person even though I was a teen/young adult. I admired his little convertible and how he zipped around town with the top down like a movie star! I also remember how my parents, especially my father who loved to laugh, valued him. In the days before telephone number ID, Daddy answered a call at home and heard a deep voice singing a hymn (something like Rock of Ages?) and laughed with glee that Dr. Schedler had identified himself in that manner when calling to give a test result. Thank you for putting his obituary in the Denton newspaper so that I now know how he spent his later years of life. I envision my daddy and my mother and Dr. Schedler are laughing and singing together once again. May the family members be comforted in the knowledge of a life well-lived.



Paul was a dear uncle, with his wry sense of humor ( way beyond my years) and pleasant, happy disposition, always inquiring into my interests and well- being.  He has done many kind and meaningful things for me, including healthcare at the most inconvenient times!!  He was a loving and doting father to Kathleen and Michael, which i witnessed and absorbed as a young adult. I spoke with him in December after many years, and was reminded of his intellect, humor, and kindess.  RIP, Paul, I will miss you.

So sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Schedler, my physician when I was a child in Denton (I seem to remember that he saw me at least once in Austin, after he moved there and while my family was visiting). Although I was young, I still remember his gentle, good nature, and how much I liked him. My parents were in awe of Dr. Schedler, and talked about how much they liked him for years and years. This special man will be missed by many, I have no doubt. 



I remember Dr. Schedler as a very  respected member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the late 60's. He was very much respected and at 27 years my elder, he set such a fine example for all of us kids. We all thought a lot of him and Bess. He could settle us down without being mean. He was so cool driving exotics such as the white Sunbeam Tiger.
When I was a teenager, Dr. Schedler care for all my ills and sports injuries so caring and compassionately. He listened and treated my whole family so well.
We loved the man and were very lucky to have him in our lives, albeit briefly.
The World needs more men like Paul Schedler.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Shedler in the mid to late 80s at the Austin State School. Paul was a man of great medical talent tempered with deadpan humor. Paul was intriguing in the way he approached the bureaucratic character of work at Austin State School. He had little patience for useless meetings and candidly expressed dislike in "Uncle Paul" fashion usually via creative napping during especially tedious confabs. He poked me in the ribs on several occasions to say, "Wake me up when it's over," then close his eyes...but he was listening the whole  time. I always enjoyed seeing Paul on campus. He'd nearly always take time to share a warm greeting and a bit of refreshing humor in the midst of an otherwise tense and somber environment. Paul joyfully served the most vulnerable Texans with competence, compassion and style. Rest well, Good Doctor, you have earned your peace.
