Patty King Thompson 1921 2004 Patty King Thompson passed away peacefully on October 24, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin, Texas, with Family Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26th at the funeral home. Patty was preceded in death by her husband of almost sixty years, Hardy E. Thompson, Jr. M.D. She is survived by two children, their spouses and five grandchildren. They are Hardy Thompson, III and his wife Susan Steinhauser Thompson and Patricia Thompson Van Buskirk and her husband Rob Van Buskirk. Grandchildren are Evans Thompson, Kate Thompson, Will Thompson, Edward Van Buskirk and Thomas Van Buskirk. Born one of seven children to Jesse and Mabel King in 1921, she is also survived by her sister Merle King McGinty and many nieces and nephews, and their families. Patty, a sweet and caring person, was loved by all who knew her. Her family wishes to express its special thanks and appreciation to personnel at the Summit Health Care Center in Westlake for their years of loving care and kindness to her. During her lifetime, Patty sought to actively serve and support many organizations and worthy causes. She served as President of the Travis County Medical Auxiliary, was very active in the Settlement Home of Austin and involved in the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Program, benefiting children. She was a major contributor by gifts of time, effort and support to the Grace Bible Church through its early years. She and her husband sponsored many events for the churchs Singles Group and Young Married Couples. They also supported several college campus ministries. Pattys firm religious faith, coupled with her continuing energy to help others resulted in her strong and lasting support for a number of other Christian ministries and Bible Study programs. Although she will be missed by all who loved and knew her, those close to her know that her faith and Gods grace has reunited her with her loving husband, other family members and friends in heaven. Burial will take place in the Leona Cemetery on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ernest Carl Phifer officiating at the graveside service.
