Patsy Gail (Toungate) Walker was born in Austin, Texas, on August 26, 1940, to Lum Columbus Toungate and Lillian Loreen (Daniels) Toungate. Patsy passed away from this life and into the next on February 13, 2024.
She was her parents' first child followed by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
She started school in Luling, TX, where the family lived for a number of years, and then moved to the Round Rock, TX area.
She met Larry Walker (her future husband) in Round Rock in September of 1958 and they married in June of 1959. They raised 2 sons. Patsy's love for Larry and their boys was with great depth. She enjoyed being a housewife, mother, and homemaker and believed each to be her true role as a wife and mother. She admired her sons for their faith and their wise choices in marriage. Patsy loved each of her daughters-in-law and had great respect for both. She viewed each as a valuable asset to their husbands, their children, the Church, and the entire Walker family.
Patsy was a member of the North Loop Church of Christ in Austin, TX. Before her health failed, she enjoyed going to gospel meetings and making new friends. Bible study and prayer were important to her. She truly looked forward to God's promise made to his saints...
1 Corinthians 2:9: "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him."
Hobbies she enjoyed at different phases in her life included travel, reading, gardening, canning, working with plants, camping, landscape painting, and her word books and puzzles.
Patsy is survived by Larry; their two sons Steven (wife Brenda) and Shane (wife Sheri); six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Billy Walker and his family; brothers Jimmy, Larry, Craig, and her sister Coleen and their families; her beloved Church family; and also each of her cherished extended family and friends.
There was a certain radiance on her face as she reminisced about each of her loved ones. She often shared that her Christian associations and her family brought her the greatest source of happiness.
"God has blessed us so much, Larry, we can never thank him enough," were words she repeated often.
Her smile and the extent of her love were beautiful to witness.
Preceding Patsy in death were her beloved parents Lum and Loreen Toungate. Also preceding her death was her infant daughter, Gail Evon Walker, whom she never forgot.
A funeral service for Patsy will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749, followed by a graveside service at 12:00 PM.
