Patricia Eden Stallings

Patricia Eden Stallings Patricia Eden Stallings, 95, died in Austin on February 24, 2004. Born September 16, 1908 in Stigler, Oklahoma, she grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, one of the six children of Claude and Laura Ponder Eden. She married Russell E. Stallings in 1935 and thereafter they lived in Victoria, Texas, before moving to Houston in 1947. Russell and Patricia lived in West University Place until his death in 1993 when she moved to Austin to live with her daughter. Throughout her long life, Patricia devoted herself to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Patricia is survived by her daughter Patricia Stallings Savage and husband Jimmie E. Savage, by her son Paul E. Stallings and wife Maggie Dailey Stallings, by her grandchildren Christopher Eden Savage, Patrick Eden Stallings and wife Karen Fannin Stallings, Catherine Stallings Arágon and husband Alfredo Erich Arágon, and Paul Emerson Stallings and wife Kristen Harrison Stallings, and by her great-grandchildren Catherine Alexandra Arágon, Alfredo Nicholas Arágon, Victoria Claire Arágon, Sophia Isabella Arágon, Isabel Nicole Stallings, Harrison Dailey Stallings, Paul Jackson Stallings, and Lee Fannin Stallings. Patricia was an enthusiastic and gifted gardener whose Houston garden was always a lush oasis in a tropical city. A longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston she was also a passionate supporter of the Democratic Party. It was one of the pleasures of her later years that she found so many of her neighbors in Austin’s North Campus neighborhood shared her political convictions. It was in this community that she tended her last garden. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Westminster Manor Health Care Center for their compassionate care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Plan II Scholarship Fund at the University of Texas in Austin (Will C. Hogg Bldg. 4.104) or a charity of your choice.
