Patricia G Harris

Patricia Ann George Harris, 93, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the 11th of September 2023 in Waco, Texas. Born on the 22nd of April 1930 in Rockwood, Tennessee, she graduated from Baylor University in 1950 where she met her husband, Hal J. Harris. They were married for over 62 years. Pat lived in Austin since 1968. She moved to Waco shortly before going Home to be with the Lord.

Pat loved the Lord Jesus Christ and God’s Family and faithfully served Him through the church in various capacities. She was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church for fifty-five years. She especially loved teaching children in Sunday School. She also was active in the Women’s Missionary Union and was a strong supporter of missions. Before having children, she was an elementary school teacher.

Yet her main joy and ministry was raising and caring for her family. Together with her husband, Hal, she sought to provide love, encouragement, and support to her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and their spouses, and her dear great-grandchildren. She loved her family to the end and was such a blessing to them.

Pat is survived by her three sons, Hal Harris, Jr and wife, Connie, of Woodway, Texas, Scott Harris and wife, JiYoon, of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Andrew Harris and wife, Suzanne, of Austin, Texas. She has three grandchildren to cherish her memory, Tyler Harris (wife Alyssa), Michelle Herring (husband Nick), and Drew Harris. She also has two great-grandchildren, Avery and Leah Herring, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Hal, and her parents, Burt and Lucy Ann George.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate Pat’s life will be held on the 16th of September 2023 at 11:00AM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, in Austin, Texas. A private graveside service at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery will precede the memorial.
