Pat was born in in Dallas, Texas to John Coit Malloy and Irene Moody Malloy. She spent her early years growing up in Waxahachie, Texas eventually obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Trinity University in 1949. After marrying Lawrence Crain they eventually moved to Austin with their son Stephen. She taught elementary school in the Austin Independent School District for many years. She loved being a Cub Scout den leader and helping with PTA as well as molding the minds of all of her students.
Being involved in her community was important to Pat. She loved her church, The Church of the Good Shepherd, as well as her memberships in the Austin Women's Club, the Garden Club, DAR , and the PEO Sisterhood. She spent years on committees cooking, decorating and organizing for these various organizations, creating lifelong friendships.
Pat loved her family and for so many years she showed an abundance of love to all of her family members especially her grand children and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence O. Crain, her parents and sister Shirley Trussell of Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her son Stephen (Tracy), of McAllen, Texas, grandchildren Daniel Crain (Stephanie) and Colby Dean (Robert) , great grandchildren Noah and Margot Crain, brother John Malloy (Elaine) of Memphis, Tennessee and nieces Janet Link and Beth Malloy.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers from Halcyon Home and also those from Encompass Home Health and Hospice who so graciously provided wonderful care and comfort to her over the last few years.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10:00 am at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be sent to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Austin, Texas or the Austin Women's Club.
