Pamela Lynn Thorp, age 68, of Spicewood, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2024. Pam was born in Austin, to E.J. (Jeff) Shugart and Betty Jean Tyler Shugart. She grew up in and around Austin and attended Dripping Springs High School. She finished her education at the Austin Community College, taking some classes along with her Dad. She was retired from the Lake Travis School district with over 30 years in various roles as a Teacher aide, working with special needs kids, and administrative duties. She loved assisting at the Special Olympics, usually with her mom Betty and was a ready volunteer at her Church. She was a devoted wife and mother, counting any sacrifices as blessings to be able to help her family and many others who shared her life.
Pamela is preceded in death by her husband Harvey B. Thorp, granddaughter Alyssa Lynn Thorp, her parents; brothers Troy, Eddie, and Robert Shugart. She is survived by her sons, Pascal and Jason Thorp; her granddaughter Delphi Thorp; her brother James Shugart; Nieces Erin Rice, Renea Shugart and her nephew Troy Shugart, her Aunt Donna, Cousins she loved and many, many friends.
Of all of her many titles, and as much as she loved being a mom, and couldn’t get enough of babies, Pamela loved being called Nana. Her grandchildren Alyssa and Delphi brightened her days and gave her a deep joy that could not be touched by life's trials. Her absolute faith in Jesus Christ alone and her many prayers and conversations with God helped her face and rejoice (even if it were just a little) every day.
A memorial service for Pamela will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM.
