Olivia Whitfield

Olivia Anne Whitfield of Leander, Texas, passed away peacefully October 22, 2022, after a long illness. Olivia was born in Austin, Texas, on July 17, 1959 to Randolph W. Whitfield and Carol E. Whitfield. In 1972, the family moved to Leander where Olivia attended Leander schools, and enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball. She graduated Leander High School in 1977.

Olivia married Ed Rider in 1976 and had daughter Jacqueline Lou in September 1977. Olivia struggled with mental illness in the mid-1980s, and subsequently returned home to live with her parents in Leander. Olivia loved living in the country, riding her motorcycle, and watching football games and western movies with her father. She also shared a love of music and singing with her niece, Cassandra. Due to her having advanced COPD, she moved to a nursing facility in 2014. She later suffered a stroke in September 2015, and moved to Spanish Meadow Nursing Home in Katy, Texas. We want to thank all of the staff who provided exceptional care for Olivia over the last seven years.

Olivia was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Whitfield; father, Randy Whitfield; and brother, Randy B. Whitfield. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline L. Batterson; sister, Melanie Ledesma and husband, Eddie; grandson, Jevin Batterson; granddaughter, K’Lynn; niece, Cassandra Cockrell; nephew, Scotty Cockrell; great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

A visitation for Olivia will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750. A graveside service will occur Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bagdad cemetery, 400 N Bagdad rd., Leander, TX 78641.
