O.E. (Brad ) Bradshaw passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 18,2012 at the age of 78 in Austin, Texas. He was born December 2, 1933 in Austin to Louis H. Bradshaw and Mary Ima Jane Bradshaw.
Brad grew up in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1951, where he lettered in football, and the University of Texas in 1961 with a degree in Microbiology. In 1953 he married Mary LaVerne Cummings and raised two children. He also played AA baseball for a short time for the Austin Pioneers.
He joined the US Army Reserves and later served in the US Army. He served in the Special Weapons Department in Albuquerque until 1957. Brad then served as a pharmaceutical sales representative in West Texas before he returned to Austin and founded Durable Medical Equipment, Inc.
In 1999, Brad married Jeanne McNatt Williams. The two of them spent those last happy years enjoying friends and family and traveling, as long as he was able.
He will be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing and farming. He considered himself a “gentleman farmer”. He was a kind and gentle man with many friends. He was highly respected as a business man with his common sense approach. He made the company grow into what it is today.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Louis M. Bradshaw.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne McNatt Bradshaw; his son, Brent E. Bradshaw and his wife, Shelley; a daughter, Brenda Bradshaw Hernandez and her husband , Nash, Jr.; a step-daughter, Sharyn Davis; his sisters, Mary Jo Wodke , and Martha Anderson; his brother, David Bradshaw; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 28th of June 2012, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
