Ofelia Sanchez Lucio Montoya, born July 23, 1931 in Kennedy, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022 while residing at the home of her daughter, Rosalinda Lancaster and her husband Earl, in Niederwald, Texas. She was also surrounded by family and friends.
Throughout her 91 years Ofelia was a lively and bubbly person who will be remembered fondly. She was known for many things including starting every morning by having a cup of coffee while reading her bible as well as her passion for ceramics, a hobby that she passed along and taught her children. Ofelia was also known for her green thumb and beautiful roses. She could often be found working in her garden tending to all of her treasured plants and flowers. When Ofelia wasn't working on her hobbies at home she could be found at the Conley-Guerrero Senior Center where she was an active member.
Ofelia was preceded in death by her parents, Concepcion Sanchez and Refugia Cerda; two sons, Reynaldo Lucio and Mark Anthony Montoya; her first husband Virginio Lucio; two sisters and two brothers.
Ofelia left many beloved family members behind to cherish her memory including her loving husband, Ramiro Montoya; sister, Enedina Rodriguez and husband, Valentine; two brothers, Ruben Sanchez as well as Refugio Sanchez and wife, Carolina; her five children Rosalinda Lancaster and husband, Earl, John Albert Lucio and wife, Sylvia, Angie Maldonado and husband, Ernest Sr., Diane Perez and husband, Ruben, Maryalice Trevino and husband, Michael; she also leaves behind her cherished fifteen grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, as well as her much loved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for Ofelia will be her grandsons; Ernest Maldonado Jr., Michael Maldonado Sr., Avery Dennis Maldonado, Jonathan Gonzales, Jimmy Gonzales, Joseph Gonzales, Brandon Trevino, and George Martinez with honorary Pallbearer Nicholas Lucio.
Celebrating The Life of Ofelia S. Montoya:
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 18 2022 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Ave., Austin, Texas 78704. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery 3650 S. IH Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas 78704.
