Butch is preceded in death by, his parents, Wesley and Shirley Sanders; Grandparents, Sam Sanders and Roberta Beth Law Sanders, Vada Inez and Robert Dawson.
Butch is survived by his life partner, Diana Schmidt; sister, Vicki Sanders and husband, Paul Barnette; sister, Debbie and husband Glenn Belvin; son, Michael Wesley Sanders and girlfriend Sherry Harbin; daughter, Kaci and husband, Glenn Strube.
Butch is also survived by his granddaughter, Hunter Sanders; niece, Amber Wallace; nephew, Scott Eason and wife, Sarah; nephew, Nathan Belvin and wife, Carly; niece, Nichole Sabatino; niece, Becky Barnette; five great-nieces; Misty Wallace, Autumn Wallace, Aubrey Wallace, Madelynn Eason and Reagan Reece; and numerous cousins.
Butch was born on, October 17th, 1954, to Wesley and Shirley Sanders in, Austin, Texas.
During his childhood years you could bet he would be skating at Brentwood Skating Rink every Friday and Saturday night. He enjoyed speed skating competition.
He graduated 1973 from Sidney Lanier High School. After High School graduation, he earned his apprenticeship and became a journeyman with Ironworkers Local Union 482. Butch worked around Austin building numerous high rises and structures . He decided to travel and left Austin in the early 90’s and traveled to several states before settling in Jackson, Tennessee for the next 14 years. Throughout his career, he worked on the Casinos in Mississippi, Wolfchase Mall in Memphis, Tennessee, on Fort Campbell base in Kentucky, and at the Toyota Plant in Jackson, Tennessee. In 2008, Butch and his beloved dog, Ruffles retired and returned to the place he always hung his cowboy hat: Elgin/Austin.
During his retirement, Butch enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also belonged to numerous bass clubs through the years. When not fishing, or at his deer lease, he would be amused by his 3 goats, Lola, Tina, and Mitzi. Kona the pup came along and she quickly became his napping partner.
Butch will be missed by everyone that knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.
