She was born Norma Ruth Moore to Clarice Burkhalter Moore and William Eddin Moore, Sr., in Queen City, Texas, Moore's Landing. Her father was a roughneck in the oilfields and her mother was a school teacher.
Norma participated in local beauty pageants. She was as beautiful as she was kind and gracious. She left home to work in Texarkana, Texas. She met Harold Patman there, and they were soon married. They moved to Austin, Texas and started a family. She went on to earn her B.A. Degree in History from the University of Texas at Austin.
Norma was with Austin I.S.D. for 25 years as a junior high and high school Geography teacher, where she earned several awards. She was the owner and proprietor of the Hobo Joe's Barbecue restaurant in Austin for many years. A reporter at the Austin-American-Statesman newspaper interviewed Norma and published an article about her success as a businesswoman. She enjoyed time spent traveling in Europe and Russia. She loved to play bridge and met with her friends weekly.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Evelyn King, brother-in-law Woody Pelley, husband Rey Delgado, and grandson John W. R. Graham.
Survivors include her brother, William Ed Moore, Jr., sister Hazel Pelley, daughters Brenda Johnson and Cheryl King, grandchildren Jerry, Jason, Larry and Alexandria, great-granddaughter Naomi, and a number of relatives and friends.
Funeral services are Sunday, September 2nd at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., interment will be at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
