Norma Blotter Mees, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on the 10th of July 2011, in Austin, Texas. Norma was born in Logan, Utah to Fred and Ruth Blotter on the 12th of June 1922. She grew up with 3 younger brothers, Keith, Deloy, and Ronald, who have all preceded her in death. In Chicago, on the 27th of January 1945, she married the “love of her life,” Eugene Mees. They met at a USO in Logan. Eugene was a bronzed Marine and Norma was a hostess from her college sorority. Mutual love was at first sight that night. Norma has now gone to again be with her beloved "Gene" who passed away on July 19, 2006, after 61 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish her memories are sons, Eugene and wife Carolyn, and David; grandchildren, Melonie Knussmann and Michael Mees; and great-grandchildren, Gracie Knussmann and Kase Knussmann. Norma was an accomplished Austin Artist and a member of the Austin Palette Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. She was a member of T-Mates, a National Guardsman's wives club, and developed life-long relationships with many of these wives. She was also a member of Cosmopals, a wives club associated with the Cosmopolitan Club. Norma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from twelve o’clock until two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 14th of July 2011, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin. Funeral Services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 14th of July 2011, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin.
