Nora was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Nora Gunn, husband of 66 years, Calvin Anderson, brother Robert Gunn and sisters Lillie Mae Koenig, Lena Marcum, Fannie Owens, Stella Johnson and Marie Whitaker.
She is survived by her son Michael Anderson and wife Linda, granddaughters Laurie Shaw and husband Darin, and Amy Hanner; great granddaughters Alex Hanner and Kendall Hanner; sister Jeanette Jennings; brother Joe Gunn; brother-in-law Raymond Whitaker and wife Margaret; and generations of nieces and nephews.
Most of her working career was spent at the E.M. Scarborough's and Sons Department Store at Sixth and Congress in Austin. She quickly became a merchandise buyer for the cosmetics department. Years later she retired after becoming the store's first woman divisional manager.
Most important to her was her family whom she loved dearly. Family was always her first priority. She cherished her role as "Nannie" and will always be remembered for putting everyone else's needs ahead of her own. She will be missed by all but she is now in her heavenly home.
A graveside service will be held at the Manor City Cemetery in Manor Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. You may also pay your respects to Nora Anderson at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home between the hours of 12:00 noon and 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Manor United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
