

Nina Jane Braxton Dudgeon, 89, of Cedar Park, Texas formerly of Amarillo, Texas passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013. She is preceded in death by her first husband James (Jim) Allen Braxton, her father Oscar Eugene Swearingen and mother Wilmirth Andrews Swearingen, brothers Theo Swearingen, Oscar Eugene Swearingen Jr., Bill Swearingen, sisters Eloise Swearingen Meurlot, Christine Swearingen Gibler, Juanee Swearingen Boll, Marjory Swearingen Wiegel, Arthusa Swearingen Hortenstine.
Jane was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on June 9, 1924. She grew up in Mattoon, Illinois and later moved to Amarillo, Texas. She met Jim Braxton in Amarillo at the First Baptist Church and they were later married November 28, 1948. They had two children; Larry Braxton and Cheryl Lynne Braxton. They moved to Temple, Texas later and then to Cedar Park, Texas in 1992. Jim and Jane were married for 56 years until his death at their home on January 6, 2005.
Jane graduated from Mattoon High School in Illinois and attended Eastern Illinois State University for two years. During the war she taught 4th grade. After moving to Amarillo she worked for Shamrock Oil and then as a teachers aid for Amarillo ISD and then Temple ISD before retiring. Jane belonged to First Baptist Church in Amarillo in her early years and later after moving to Cedar Park joined New Hope Baptist Church in Cedar Park Texas.
In August of 2011 Jane married John Dudgeon of Cedar Park, Texas. They met through their Sunday School Class at New Hope Baptist Church and were married until her death.
Jane is survived by her sister, Arlene Muthersbough and husband Jack, son, Larry Braxton and wife Carolyn, daughter Cheryl Braxton as well as 5 grandchildren, William Brett Bagley and wife Amber, Whitney Bryce Bagley, Winfield James Bagley, Lucas Ryan Braxton and Kelsey Leigh Braxton, as well as five great grandchildren, Alex Bagley, Jaden Bagley, Dennis Stevenson, John Thomas Stevenson and Oliver Stevenson.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home on Anderson Mill from 5pm until 7 pm on Thursday August 15, 2013 and funeral service will be at 10am on Friday, August 16, 2013. Graveside services to follow at the Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Hope First Baptist Church and/or Texas Baptist Children’s Home.
