Nettie Hage was a beloved wife, mother, Nana, and friend. She passed away on September 1, 2006 after a brief illness. Survived by M.K. Hage, Jr., their courtship started when M.K. attended Texas A & M, continued when he joined the Air Force during World War II, and never ended. They were married for just over 60 years. Nettie was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, a place she spoke of and visited often. Proud of her upbringing, she instilled upon her children and grandchildren a deep respect for religion, hard work, and most importantly, family. Oftentimes on Sundays, friends and relatives stopped at the Hage residence, and their visits were very special to her. Nettie was a kind and gentle soul, always available to lend a helping hand to those in need. She loved her work as a real estate broker and her association as a member and Director of the Austin Board of Realtors. She was passionate about cooking, gardening, traveling, and meeting with her Tuesday evening bridge club. She was a founding member of the DMs Ladies Social Club, and a longtime member of the Womens Symphony League and Austin Womens Club. She was a parishioner of St. Austins Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society for many years. The foundations of Netties life were family, faith, and friends. She was very philanthropic, but with customary grace and style was quiet about her and M.K.s generosity. She was particularly pleased about their work with the U.T. College of Education, School of Nursing, and College of Fine Arts. Together, they made numerous fine arts gifts to the Blanton Museum and the Harry Ransom Center. Nettie is survived by four children: Patti Hirsh and her husband Doug, Charlotte Nacozy, Robin Hage, Jennifer Bond and her husband Larry. Nettie also had three dear sisters and a brother: Paula Hundley, Mildred Joseph, Madeline George and her husband Edward, and Dr. George Shia and his wife Claire. Netties precious grandchildren are Sara, Ryan, and Jeffrey Hirsh; Elizabeth and Kathleen Nacozy; and Juliana, Kelly, and Jonathan Bond. She also had many loving nieces and nephews, including Philip and Lisa Joseph, Sammie and Susan Joseph, Larry Joseph and Ingrid Estetter, and Laura Joseph; Monica and Ernest Amparo, Adrienne and Dave Draper, Sylvia and David Jabour, Claudia and Stan Macora, Jessica and James Scott; Tom, Steve, Gary, and Chris George; Dahr, Randall, Rob and Louise Jamail; Mitch and Julie Fidel, Lynn and Greg Tipton, and Todd and Susan Fidel. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 2006 at St. Austins Catholic Church. A private family burial will be held at Assumption Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
