Born in Manor, Texas to Tirie Helton Helge and Roland W. Helge, he was a good son, wonderful Daddy and fantastic grandfather and great-grandfather.
He spent his younger years living on a Dairy farm on the outskirts of Austin at the corner of Burnet Road and Braker Lane and as a child plowed fields by mule. He graduated from Round Rock High School in 1956 and was in the Army Reserves in the 1960’s. He spent most of his career in the printing and ink business whether in the pressroom or in sales.
Travis lived in Southwest Austin for the last 30+ years. He was a Christian who attended River Bend Church where he met his wife, Linda. When he was no longer able to attend church in person, he faithfully watched service every Sunday on TV. He always tried to do what was right and good.
Travis loved and respected the land and animals; he loved to hunt and fish. Great memories were made on the deer lease with his buddies and on the lake fishing with his grandkids. He also loved baseball and football. When he was able, he loved attending his grandson’s football games and cheering them on from the stands. Talented in so many ways. He built his own ranch house from the ground up. He was very mechanically inclined, he could fix any kind of vehicle and even rebuilt the engine of his 1969 Ford F-100 truck.
His wife, Linda preceded him in death by 14 years. He loved her deeply and her children Jason and Rindy and Jason’s children Emma and Dylan.
Survived by sister Avenell Perry and brother WR (Pam) Helge; son, Russell (Maricela) Helge; daughter Carol (Scott) Dale; stepson Charles Hoffman, grandchildren Riley Dale, Travis Dale, Eric Helge and Lona Reynolds; great-grandchildren Alex, Sawyer, Silas, Kyle and Tyler and his beloved constant companion, Cookie.
A very special thank you goes to Hospice Austin for help, support and guidance throughout his final months.
