Nancy served as Texas Senator Jane Nelson’s Chief of Staff for 13 years, was later appointed Assistant to Ambassador James Oberwetter in Saudi Arabia and continued working with his successor, Ambassador Ford Fraker.
Following her diplomatic service, she helped investment firm KKR open an office in Riyadh and then retired in 2018 to focus on her fight with stage 4 breast cancer, to which she finally succumbed after a total of 11 years.
Nancy loved the visual arts, haute couture, and ballet, and most deeply, adventurous travel - endlessly fascinated by cultural differences and commonalities.
She is survived by her mother, Sally Hadigian, brother Robert Hadigian, and husband Mark Carpenter.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Austin Ballet Pink Pilates program would be most appreciated. https://my.balletaustin.org/donate/contribute2?ct=72
Please specify in the notes section in memory of Nancy Carpenter for the Pink Pilates program.
