Myrgie Evelyn (Guinn) Cummings was born on September 30th, 1925 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Fred and Della Guinn. She was one of their eight children: brothers; Bud, Orval, John, and Jimmy Guinn and her sisters; Mina Simmons, Dovey Hicks and Gertrude Sparks all of whom have preceded her in death.
Myrgie grew up in Eufaula, Oklahoma where she graduated high school. She went on to attend secretarial school which prepared her for her career with Communication Workers of America as an administrative secretary, working with the company for 34 years. After retiring from C.W.A, she worked part time at Brentwood Christian School where she thoroughly enjoyed working with small children.
Myrgie married Andrew Neil Cummings on September 2nd, 1961 in the chapel at University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin, TX. They attended church at Brentwood Church of Christ and in the latter years with Hyde Park Church of Christ. She volunteered with Central Texas Children’s Home for 26 years and was affiliated with O.P.E.I. U, an Auxiliary of the National Association of Letter Carriers for over 20 years.
She enjoying sewing and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her two good friends Jean and Avis, which kept her busy enjoying many fun adventures together.
Myrgie is survived by her daughter Vickie Wilson and Son-in-law Damon Wilson, her son Thomas Joel Cummings, Grandchildren Kali James and Kyle Wilson, and 3 great grandchildren Zion, Monica, and Ethan James, along with many nieces, nephews, inlaws and friends.

A visitation for Myrgie will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752. A committal service will occur Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
