Mr. John Samuel Butler was born June 9, 1946 in Tyler, Texas to the union of Mr. Hugh Alexander Butler and Mrs. Mary E. Hunter Butler. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized. John graduated from Old L.C. Anderson High. He was employed by Frost Tex and was a driver for Charter Buses. His great loves were fishing, bingo, and playing cards. John served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge in 1964. He enjoyed lending a helping hand in the community. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Shirley Yvonne Steward on June 23, 1969. Five children were born to their union. John departed this life on February 13, 2013 at 3:30 P.M. at the Texas Neuro Rehab Center. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Mr. Hugh Alexander Butler and Mrs. Mary E. Hunter-Butler; and brother, Mr. Roy Lee Butler. John leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 43 years, Mrs. Shirley Y. Steward-Butler; five children, Samuel E. Butler, Rosalyn E. Butler, Keisha R. Butler, Christopher A. Butler, and Tracey A. Butler all of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Yvonne, Keiondra, Xavier, Jayla, Jaden, Jalen, Tyreanna, Christian, A'mya, Imani, Tamya, Takiyah, and Kamyra; one brother, Frank W. (Shirley) Hill of Evans, Georgia; one sister, Doris Butler-Johnson of Austin, Texas; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
