Tom Deviney, officiating.
Mossy Dell was born on August 31, 1931, in Slate Springs, Mississippi, to parents, Lyttleton and Edrie Hamilton. She was the middle child with an older sister, Mary Susan, and a younger brother, Thomas Albert. She graduated from Slate Springs High School in 1948 and earned her Bachelor’s degree from MSCW in Home Economics. She taught school in Kennett, Missouri, where she met the love of her life and married Thomas “T.V.” Minner on August 20, 1957. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage before his death on April 4, 2022. They made their home in Atlanta, Dallas, and moved to Austin in 1976.
Mossy was employed by Round Rock High School as a Home Economics teacher for 21 years. She taught countless young people to sew and the joy of cooking, skills that would prepare them for life after high school. After leaving the classroom, she instructed young girls in private sewing lessons and made lifelong relationships. She was a fabulous seamstress making draperies and other garments for friends and family.
She and T.V. enjoyed living in the Austin area with tremendous neighbors and friends, as well as being a part of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Searchers Class since 1980.
Mossy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, and brother. She is survived by her son, Tommy (Toni) Minner of Horseshoe Bay; daughter, Gigi (Gaines) Magee of Grosvenor; grandsons Chris (Larissa) Minner of Austin; Patrick (Meagan) Magee of Midland; Denson (Katy) Minner of Round Rock; and Blair (Erica) Magee of Lindale; great-grandsons, Nicholas Oliver Minner, Gaines Arthur Magee V, Colt Hamilton Magee, and Callen James Magee; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank a special friend, Michelle Willette, for the love and care given to Mossy during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Mossy Minner Home Economics Scholarship for a graduating senior at Round Rock High School going on to major in Home Economics through any branch of A+ Credit Union in the Austin area; Bethany United Methodist Foundation, 10010 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX; or a charity of your choice to help find a cure for cancer.
