Monroe Zoch

Monroe Zoch of Austin, TX died on December 17, 2023 at the age of 89. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, December 30th, 2023 at Weed Corley and Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Dr, Austin, TX 78731.

Visitation begins at 11AM and funeral services will take place at noon. Lonnie Smith will officiate. There will be a reception afterwards..

A Graveside service will take place nearby at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr, Austin, TX 78731 at 2:30PM.

Monroe was the youngest of eleven children born October 24, 1934 to Gotthilf Martin Zoch and Clara Alfrieda Boettcher.

He was preceded in death by his son Michael Wayne Zoch and his wife Patrica Ann Zoch, his parents, Gotthilf Martin Zoch and Clara Alfrieda Boettcher, his sisters Alma Lehmann, Thelma Schatte, Ruth Walther and brothers, Robert, Walter, Rudie, Edwin, Ludwig, Otto and Paul Zoch.

He is survived by his two sons John Robert Zoch of Austin, TX and Charles Patrick Zoch of Pflugerville, TX and two granddaughters Abigail Rose and Katherine Grace Zoch.

In his youth, he picked cotton on his family farm in Giddings, Texas. He graduated from John H. Reagan High school in 1953. Monroe helped his brother drywall homes. As an apprentice he was assigned to do the closets.

Monroe served 8 years in the Naval Reserves and received a BBA at the University of Houston in 1965, worked for 36 years at IBM in Houston, Lexington and Austin from 1936 to 1992. After retirement from IBM he was a real estate agent selling homes and sold businesses with International Business Exchange. He owned and managed two rental properties, He was a handyman around the house, his rental properties and his son’s home projects.

He raised three boys, Michael Wayne, John Robert and Charles Patrick Zoch. He was a boy scout volunteer and little league baseball coach and assistant coach. He enjoyed camping and traveling the country with his family in a motorhome.

Monroe Loved Houston Cougars football and basketball and was active in the UH Alumni association. Go Coogs!
