Minnie Mabel Shepherd Andrews Minnie Mabel Shepherd Andrews departed this life on May 27 at the age of 91 in Austin, Texas. Mabel was born on September 9 of 1912 in Cedar Bayou, Texas. She was the 5th child of 7 children born to Thomas William Shepherd and Lillian Westbrook Shepherd of Cedar Bayou, Texas in Chambers County. She was married to James Andrews of Dayton, Texas and spent 20 years in Caracas, Venezuela, in the South American oil fields. They retired to Austin, Texas. Mabel was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Andrews; her parents, Thomas and Lillian Shepherd of Cedar Bayou, Texas; her brothers; Ed Shepherd, of Baytown, Adis Shepherd, of Baytown, Lloyd Shepherd of Baytown, Texas, sisters; Barbara Annie Barrow of DeRidder, Louisiana, Lillian Justice of Dayton, Texas, Lenora Clanahan of Mont Belvieu, Texas and nephews, Ace Albert Shepherd and Sonny Edward Shepherd of Baytown, Texas. Mabel enjoyed various interests including oil painting and golf. She was still on the putting green in 2004. The last few years she had been living in the Vista Oaks retirement facility in Austin, Texas. Mabel had been a member of the Hudson Bend Garden Club while she was living at her home on Land’s End. Among her special friends in Austin were Vera and Jimmie Marlatt, son Dave Marlatt, Terri Myers, and numerous others. Although she had no children, there are numerous nieces and nephews who will mourn her passing. These include Ivy Shepherd of Baytown, Texas, Joseph Shepherd of Covington, Texas, Betty Cumming of Baytown, Texas, Michae Davis of Dayton, Texas, Sandra Cochran of Mont Belvieu, Texas, Elaine Speer of Beeville, Texas, Sharon Clanahan of Mont Belvieu, Texas, Jim McGinty of Waller, Texas, Tish Richter of Dayton, Texas, Tanya McGinty of Austin, Texas, Cathy McGinty of Baytown and many great nephews and nieces.
