Surrounded by many of her angels, Mildred Erzell (Mimi) Metcalf, age 84, of Manor, Texas passed peacefully from this world at St. Davids Hospital on Saturday, June 24, 2006, following a courageous battle with heart disease. She was born December 2, 1921 to the late Mary Ellen Sanders Fleming and Earl Monroe Fleming. In 1942, Mildred married Leon A. (Jack) Metcalf. They had two children, Joseph and Janice. Mimi was an avid reader, devoted Christian and poet. She loved all living creatures. Her open and generous spirit was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Mimi Metcalf is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack; her son Joseph Lee and wife Carol; her daughter Janice Kay Campney and husband Bruce; grandchildren Chris, Sherrise, Melanie, Justin and Jeffrey; great-grandchildren Stephen, Christopher, Dallas, James and Davis and one brother, Hilton L. Fleming (all of Austin, Texas). She is further survived by other dear relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Audrey Lester (Blondie) Fleming. Visitation for Mildred Metcalf will be Tuesday, June 27th, 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m., at Weed Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
