Jo Michelle Scotti Mikulencak passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at home in Austin, Texas surrounded by her family. She was 64 years old. She was born in Austin, Texas on November 22, 1956. She was the sixth child of Jordan and Lola Scotti. She graduated from A.N. McCallum High School in 1975.
Upon graduating, she immediately went to work for the State of Texas Realtors Board. In 1982, she began her 30-year career with IBM. She loved her job there working in several capacities until her retirement in 2012. She couldn’t stay busy at home so she began working for the State Health Department until 2016.
She and Harvey Mikulencak were married on March 8, 1991 and filled their life with their three boys. Michelle had Adam and Jason, and Harvey had Shane. Their blended family life was busy with the boys all in school and in sports. Michelle had a love for dogs and always had one with her. She loved Cocker Spaniels and her last one is Chase, who is surely missing her.
Her life was filled with family and work. Time from work was spent with family. She was part of a close-knit family and after her dad died in 1996, she and her sisters began meeting together once a month for a Sister Day. This has lasted for over 25 years. She helped with her mom’s care until she passed in 2006. She then became a grandmother to six grandchildren. She loved going to see them at school or to their sports games on the weekends. She and Harvey would take short trips together – especially to Galveston, which was her favorite place to visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jordan and Lola Scotti, and her brothers Thomas James Scotti and John L. Scotti.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Harvey Mikulencak; her sons: Adam Woods, wife Patti, Jason Woods, wife Dana, Shane Mikulencak, wife Lindsay; her 6 grandchildren: Luke Woods, Jacob Woods, Reese Woods, Ava Mikulencak, Brooks Mikulencak and Cortlyn Mikluencak. Sisters: Sue Machost of Falls City, Joyce Taylor of Lampasas; brothers, Ed Scotti of Driftwood, and Louis Scotti of Austin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michelle’s family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff at Texas Oncology and Hospice Austin, especially Valerie, Amber and Jennifer for their special care as Michelle traveled through her journey with cancer, they are truly angels.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 28th, from 5-8pm at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
