Lynda Michelle Boeckman died March 30, 2006 in Austin. Michelle Cherry was born in Lubbock, Texas on May 31, 1962. She grew up in New Orleans and graduated from Memorial High School in Houston. In 1984, Michelle received her Bachelor of Arts in Plan II, Phi Beta Kappa, from The University of Texas at Austin. Michelle then attended The University of Texas School of Law, and received her J.D. with Honors in 1986. She married Jim Boeckman on May 30, 1987 in Dallas, Texas. Jim and Michelle lived in Dallas; Adelaide, Australia; Melbourne, Australia; and, since 1997, in Austin. Michelle practiced law with Hughes & Luce in Dallas and Ericsson Network Systems in Richardson, Texas. Michelle then joined Jim for a two-year overseas adventure in Australia, where their beautiful daughter Taylor Elise was conceived. Taylor was born in Dallas, Texas on May 16, 1997. Michelle was smart and funny, a fine lawyer and a wonderful, caring and giving mother to Taylor. She also had a profound desire to help the less fortunate and ostracized in our society, especially children, which she expressed through countless private acts of kindness and generosity. She also treasured being out in nature, and enjoyed being around all kinds of animals. She lovingly tended to the familys two dogs, two cats, a fish and a hedgehog. Michelle will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched, including her husband Jim and daughter Taylor of Austin; mother Mary Beth Snyder and husband Glen Snyder of Athens, Texas; father Dr. George Cherry and wife Chris Cherry of Oxford, England; sister Joanna Cherry of Oxford, England; brother Jonathan Cherry of Shanghai, China; father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Susan Boeckman of Springfield, Missouri; brothers-in law and sisters-in law Paul and Rebecca Boeckman of Springfield, Missouri, Philip and Erin Boeckman of London, England, and Stephen and Ann Boeckman of Silver Spring, Maryland; and nephews and nieces Matthew, Andrew, Elizabeth, Stella, Olivia, Anna and Lauren. The family invites all of Michelles friends to a memorial service at University United Methodist Church, 2409 Guadalupe Street at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2006. Parking will be available in the central parking lot at 25th and Guadalupe.
