Michael Hendrick Wise, of Austin, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the age of 66. Mike, born in Austin, Texas on April 11, 1945, graduated from South West Texas State University in San Marcos, TX with a degree in business administration in 1968 and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Mike was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1969. Mike worked as Zoning Administrator in Austin in the early 1970's. He went on to begin a long and distinguished career as a broker in residential real estate in Austin for over 25 years. Mike started his career with Nash Phillips Copus, and later founded Mike Wise Real Estate.
Mike was active in the Lion's Club and the Austin Board of Realtors.
Growing up, Mike attended Central Christian Church and later a member of Riverbend Baptist Church.
Mike's greatest passions were family, friends and living life to the fullest. His robust laugh was infectious and he was a loyal person with a caring nature and great humor.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Judson Wise, his mother, Ann Hendrick Wise, and his younger brother, Jack Greenwood Wise. He is survived by his brother William Judson Wise, sister, Sara Wise Gucker, nephews Dwight Holcomb, Jackson Wise and Allen Wise, nieces, Jennifer Martinez, Katie Stanton, Ali Murphy, numerous cousins and other loved ones John Price, Chuck Ryan, Crissy Wise Gross, Diny Baumel, Dritt Baumel, Corbin Baumel and Ashley Baumel.
A memorial service is to be conducted at 12 noon on Friday, October 21, at Smith Chapel at Riverbend Church, 4214 N. Capitol of Texas Highway, Dr. Gordon Smith will officiate. All are invited to greet family and friends prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at the same location and afterwards during a reception.
