Michael Lee “Mickey” Peel, 83, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mickey was born in San Angelo, Texas on November 10, 1938 to Vena and Virgil Peel. He later relocated to Austin, Texas where he worked as a welder for the City of Austin for over 25 years before retiring.
Mickey had numerous interests but exploring the backcountry of Pontotoc, Texas on some old family land with his beloved wife Edna brought him the most joy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Edna Peel, who was the light of his life. In addition to her, he is also survived by his three children, Tammy Taylor of Akron, Ohio; Michael Peel and wife Lisa of Liberty Hill, Texas; James Peel and wife Olga of New Braunfels, Texas; his eight grandchildren, Adam Taylor, Sara Cope, Zackery Cope, Tyler Peel, Georgiy Lamukhin, Trofim Peel, Katerina Peel and Aleksey Peel and his one great-grandchild, Gabriela Cope.
Mickey was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Lee Peel; his beloved son, David Wayne Peel and his beloved parents, Vena and Virgil Peel.
Visitation will be on Sunday May 29 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd in Austin. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 30 at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery 14501 N. Interstate Hwy 35 Pflugerville, Texas.
