Michael joined the United States Air Force after graduating from Courtland High School in 1961. He served 26 years in a distinguished career in weapons maintenance, and retiring in 1989 as a Master Sergeant. From there he worked as a HAVC technician 16 years after his career in the Air Force. He was an avid outdoorsman and mechanic, focusing on working and restoring classic cars. He was a resident of Dripping Springs for 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Clyde Friga; and two sisters, Rose Judson and Donna McElroy. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Bessie Gayle Friga; daughter, Paula Beth Friga and husband, Rick Hinman; grandchildren, Michael Thomas James Friga, Austin Scott Paul Walker, and Mikayla Rhiannon Leigh Walker; and three sisters, Irene Deemer, Patty Herrimison, and JoAnn Gray and husband, Bob; one brother, George Friga; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 1:15 P.M., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
