Michael Scott Clay, 53 of Austin, TX, passed away on January 27, 2022, after a battle with COVID-19. The Lord relieved him of all his struggles and granted him eternal peace while being held by his loving wife, Rosie Trevino. Michael, a light and inspiration to so many in this sometimes-dark world, will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched, spanning the family and friends that knew him for his whole life to those who only felt his spark for the briefest of moments.
Michael was born October 24, 1968, to parents Michael Hartman Clay and Doris Jean Clay while stationed at RAF Chicksands, United Kingdom. His childhood saw him living the life of a military brat with many moves, including to Japan, Arizona, Idaho, and Texas, where he finished his education, worked, flourished, and grew his greatest flock of friends.
A complex and private man, he also uncannily exuded patience, warmth, and a genuine sense of caring, often sensing and reaching out to people, offering encouragement, listening, or just making a human connection whenever they needed it most.
He was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend of unwavering optimism and spiritual resilience. He had an inexhaustible fountain of hope for this life and the world. His humorous stories, wry smile, and capacity to love will forever leave ripples in the lives of all those who knew him, and in turn, loved him.
Michael leaves behind his beloved wife; parents; brother (Gregory and wife Panisara), daughters (Jordyn, Elizabeth, and Catherine); three grandchildren; uncle (John); aunts (Virginia and Betty); nephew (Zachary); niece (Nicole); many cousins; and family relationships that truly stretch around the world.
We will celebrate Michael at COVID-conscious, live-streamed graveside service on February 2, 2022, at 11:30 CST:
