Merle Elaine Bryant passed away on January 24, 2024, at her home, Live Oak Estates Assisted Living, in Austin, Texas at 87. She was born in La Junta, Colorado, to parents Clara Rachael Gunion Dwyer and William A. Dwyer. Elaine had 4 older sisters, Norma, Thelma, Charlotte, and Geraldine.
Elaine graduated from La Junta High School and attended William Jewel College (a Baptist college) in Liberty, Missouri for one year.
Moving to Texas in 1982, Elaine was recovering from open heart surgery and staying with family members. She decided to stay in Austin, Texas, and worked at Carpenter & Associates, a real estate development company, in the property management section. She met and married David M Bryant, Jr., in June 1985. Elaine continued working until her retirement in 1992. She then had time to enjoy crafting, sewing, reading, gardening, visiting friends, enjoying some travel, and helping teach a ladies Sunday School class.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Donna Sims and husband Ronnie Sims. Also, her stepson, David Bryant and his two daughters, Christina and Jessica. Her many nieces and nephews were a great joy in her life.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home (6300 W William Cannon Dr., Austin, Texas 78749). Elaine’s funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with a graveside to follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home (6300 W William Cannon Dr., Austin, Texas 78749).
