A graduate of McCallum High School, Melissa received her Associate degree in business and was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
With more than 27 years of service to the State of Texas, she worked for both the Texas Youth Commission and the Texas State Comptroller’s Fiscal Management Office as a Systems Analyst.
Melissa had an endearing personality, a caring heart and an infectious joy for life- but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister and aunt.
Melissa is preceded in death by her father, Harland “Elward” Ruffin.
She is survived by her husband Steve Hinton of Cedar Park; mother Millie Ruffin; sister Analise Panter, husband Brett and niece India, all of Austin; mother and father-in-law Carol and Leon Hinton of Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Kelly Larson, husband Alan, of Iowa, and Lori Smith, husband Dan, of South Dakota.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00- 8:00 o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin Texas.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 o’clock in the morning on Thursday, December 6, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Cook- Walden Funeral Home, with Pastor Wayne Schomaker officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas under the direction of Cook- Walden Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
