Melba Rose Schneider

She was born May 12, 1925 to Thomas Ray and Dulce Annie McDonald Mobley in the small community of Upton, Texas where she was raised until work brought her family to the big city of Austin, Texas. She lived above Deep Eddy pool until the family got their home on Dywer Avenue. She graduated from Austin High School and began her working career. Soon, she met the love of her life, Eugene William Schneider. They married September 3, 1948 and had a blessed marriage of 67 years.

Melba worked at various office positions, following her husband in his military career. She retired from Austin Community College in 1999. She was a loyal supporter of The University of Texas, The Longhorn Band, and The UT Alumni Band. She was a longstanding member of Kinney Avenue Baptist Church. After retirement, she was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC).

She is survived by two children, son Randall 'Randy' Eugene Schneider and wife, Sharon; daughter Patricia 'Patti' Ann Klepacki, daughter-in-law Kathleen Connolly Schneider, and four grandchildren, Kristin Ann Schneider, Andrea Lauren Schneider Nguyen and husband Laison, Matthew Robert Schneider and Caitlin Marie Schneider, brother-in-law Gordon Monroe Smith, two nieces, Cassandra Raeann Smith and Kendra Roseann Smith Erickson and husband Mike.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene William Schneider, son, Robert Ray Schneider, parents Thomas Ray and Dulce Annie McDonald Mobley and sister Cathy Jeanne Mobley Smith.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral H, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. A graveside service will follow Friday, February 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
