Max is survived by his mother Kathleen Bucher-Dany, his stepfather Michael Dany, his brother Sean Dany and family (Valerie, Ryan, Sloane, Mady, Lilly), his sisters and their families - The Garcia’s (Lauren, Jose, Adam, Vivian), the Bahnsen’s (Krista, Erik, Leah, Dane), the Smith’s (Emily, Jordan, George Owen), the Bucher’s (Alexandra, Sutton), the Bucher McCartney’s (Andrea, Erin, Molly), the Bucher Chappell’s (Jennifer, Kyle, Justin, Megan, Hanna, Mitchell) and finally, his beloved dog Winston. Max is preceded by his father Lawrence Bucher who passed away in 2010.
Max was born in Texas on March 13th, 1997. A lifelong Austin resident, Max graduated from University High School in 2015 and attended courses at ACC. Max held several roles since that time including Program Coordinator for the Palmer Drug Abuse Program of Austin, Inc, Program Director for Keystone APG, After School Program Coordinator, and Logistics for GAT Airline Ground Support.
Max was surrounded by so many friends and family that truly loved him. He was a devoted, passionate fixture of Austin’s addiction recovery community where he provided tireless counseling, mentoring, and support to teens struggling with drug and alcohol dependency. After first achieving sobriety at age 16, Max later cofounded the successful addiction recovery nonprofit Keystone APG with his close friends in 2018 despite little to no money or non-profit business experience. Keystone was a great success and is still thriving today and helping save so many young teens lives. Max was a spontaneous, adventurous person with a deep love for family and friends, outdoors, travel, music, and animals. His extreme warmth, loyalty, generosity, sharp sense of humor, and his ability to share unconditional love touched the lives of countless individuals across his personal and professional life. Max’s friends and family were the most important thing in his life, and he will be incredibly missed by all.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 PM on Friday, December 16th at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes.
