Maxine W. Dube, age 84, died April 21, 2009 and is finally at peace with her Lord and Savior. She was the youngest of six children, born to Adele Heiligman and Frederick Wantzloeben, on January 9, 1925. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and married Capt. Elmer V. Kramer in 1943. After World War II, she followed her husband to Germany, where they lived in Kitzingen. Upon returning to the United States, she had two children, one a son, Victor Kramer, who did not live, and a daughter, Kay Kathleen. Shortly after her daughter's birth, Capt. Kramer was killed in a plane crash while on active duty in the Air Force. In 1949, Maxine married Victor Dube, and they had 49 wonderful years together before his death in 1999. Maxine was a faithful churchgoer and active church woman throughout her life. She served faithfully at the many churches she attended: St. Paul's Lutheran in San Antonio, Texas; Bethlehem Lutheran in Denver, Colorado; Mount Calvary Lutheran in San Antonio; Zion Lutheran in Dallas, Texas; and Redeemer Lutheran in Austin, Texas. She was a dedicated homemaker and tireless hostess and is remembered by her many nieces and nephews for her good cooking. She cared diligently for her daughter, Kay, sewing her clothes, planning wonderful birthday parties, and overseeing the spiritual life of her family. When her two grandsons were born, she became a doting grandmother, delighting in taking care of them whenever asked. Maxine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and William Allensworth of Austin; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kramer Milstead and Vivian Kramer Curry; many nieces and nephews; and her grandchildren John and Will Allensworth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adele and Frederick Wantzloeben, husbands Elmer Kramer and Victor Dube, two sisters, Dorothy Coggeshall and Mildred Ehlo, three brothers, Harold, Gilbert and Leslie Wantzloeben, and son, Victor Elmer Kramer. Being bedridden the last year's of her life, she longed to be reunited with the many loved ones who preceded her, and never lost sight of the love of her Lord. Her faith was her strength and her strength was her faith. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 West Anderson Lane. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, at Mission Burial Park South, 1700 SE Military Drive, San Antonio, Texas. Maxine's family wishes to thank all those who loved and cared for her, especially her wonderful caregivers Angel, Anissa, Eva, Jonea, Michelle, Pauline, Roseanne, and Rubia at Amber's Place and the dedicated staff at Hospice Austin, who faithfully cared for her for over three years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 West Anderson Lane, Austin, TX 78757, or a charity of choice.
