Maureen Danielle Jean-Marie Thompson, 50 of Spicewood, TX passed away peacefully on October 21 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Maureen was born to Henry and Ann Diercxsens on April 28, 1964. Survived by her husband, Gary Lee Thompson, and her beloved children, Taylor (15), Kyla (13) and Katelyn (10) and her sisters, Suzanne (Todd) Harrison and Dominique (Paul) Gable, Maureen's love and laughter knew no bounds and extended to her nieces and nephews, Joshua, Cybelle, Nadine, Miles, Hannah and Ian.
Maureen was many, many things. Beyond her family and friends, she was most proudly an Architect, with her entire career at O'Connell Robertson, having graduated the University of Texas at Austin with her Masters of Architecture in 1997. Prior to this work she loved so much, Maureen and Gary met at Apple Computer in Chicago in the late 1980s, prior to coming to Austin, Texas. Maureen graduated from DePauw University in 1986, and Ridgewood High School in 1982.
A visitation will occur on Saturday, October 25 from 9:30 to 10:30am at the Upper School Chapel of St. Andrew's Episcopal School located at 5901 Southwest Parkway in Austin, Texas. A service will immediately follow in the Chapel at 11 a.m. St. Andrew's is asking that all who attend park at the Regents School at 3231 Travis Country Circle. Shuttle buses will be provided. A reception will follow from 12 noon to 1pm at the St. Andrew's Library. The funeral service in the Episcopal tradition is an Easter liturgy, a liturgy of life and resurrection. In that spirit, we ask that all dress brightly. Our youngest Katelyn also noted that mommy's favorite color was green, so please choose your favorite green and express it in the way you see fit on Saturday.
Maureen loved many things, but one of the things she loved most was her three children, Taylor, Kyla and Katelyn. I think the reason Maureen fought her breast cancer so valiantly was for them. She loved them. They are Her Story, and although she is one of God's newest angels, please honor her memory by contributing to their future. All funds raised will go towards educational expenses: http://www.gofundme.com/maureenthompson
