Mattie Allene Wilson Breed Allene Breed, age 96, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008. She was born June 22, 1911, in Dripping Springs, Texas to John W. and Clara Wilson. She was a true Texas lady who was beautiful both inside and out. When Allene was a young woman, she fell in love with an "older" man, Truman Breed, Sr. who was the love of her life. They were blessed with three children, two sons and a daughter. Their life was complete living on the beautiful land they loved in Dripping Springs, when Truman was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He died at the age of 39 in 1943 and her world fell apart. She was left with her children ages 8, 7, and 4 years. She was resourceful and determined to do what was best for her children so she moved to Austin and was fortunate to be included in the "family" of the old Austin National Bank, where she made many lifelong friends. Allene turned a job into a distinguished career over 30 years, serving as secretary to the President, Leon Stone and retiring as Assistant Cashier. She loved her retirement years traveling and enjoying her "knitting" group as well as her family. She was a member for many years at First Baptist Church and then was a member at Highland Park Baptist Church. She was the cherished mother of Truman Breed Jr. and wife Ann, Ben Breed and wife Janie and daughter Wanda Johnson and husband Curtis. Her children were her life. Also surviving her are eight grandchildren, Jeff Breed, Greg Breed, Carter Breed, Christopher Breed, Corey Breed, Beverly Kuenast, Rusty Johnson and Clay Johnson. She had 16 great-grandchildren. Life with Grandmommy was always fun. They respected her and were proud of her accomplishments. Allene is also survived by a sister, Willie Mae Haydon and husband Alva, sisters-in-law Lurline Wilson and Irene Breed, as well as nieces and nephews and many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, John W. and Clara Wilson, husband Truman Breed, Sr., brother J.W. Wilson and sister Fannie Rae Bryant. The family wishes to thank the wonderful and cheerful staff at Westminster Manor for their caring ways; especially Bobbie, Janie, "M" and many others. They especially want to thank Janie Medina who was loved as family after her many years of care and devotion. Visitation will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 3125 N. Lamar Blvd. from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008. A family graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The Settlement Home for Children, 1600 Payton Gin Road, Austin, Texas 78758. Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
