Mary M. Smith, age 80, of Austin passed away Saturday, February 18, 2006. She was born on November 27, 1925, in Shiner, TX. She was the second child of Laddie and Augustina Drabek Patek. After graduating from Shiner High School, Mary moved to Austin and received a Business Certificate from Durham Business College. Later, Mary attended Austin Community College where she received an Associates Degree in Business. She worked at many different banks in the Austin area. Mary was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, and the South Austin Senior Activity Center. Mary is survived by her son, Vaughn Smith and wife Brenda; granddaughters, Megan Proctor and husband David, and Katherine Smith; great-granddaughter, Ella Proctor; step grandchildren, Keith Irvin and wife Nora, Stacy Helms and husband Frank, step great-grandchildren, Connor and Alisa Irvin; sisters, Agnes Schlenker and husband Edward, Gussie Walla and husband Pat, Ann Wagner and husband Bill; brothers, Laddie Patek, Jr. and wife Mildred, Johnnie Patek and wife Virginia, and Edward Patek and wife Marjorie. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, February 20, 2006 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, with Father Joe Tomei officiating. Entombment will follow at Assumption Mausoleum.
