Mary K. Peters

Mary Kathryn Peters, age 87, a lifetime resident of Austin, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012. Mary was born to Thea Dorus Lacker and Lucy Ellen Wood Lacker on November 11, 1924 in Manor, Texas.

Mary worked as a secretary and purchasing agent with the Texas Employment Commission before retiring after 35 years of service.

On January 24, 1981, Mary married A.W. “Pete” Peters. Mary accompanied Pete on his construction jobs after retiring. Mary also enjoyed treks to Oklahoma to visit family. Pete has five children, who Mary adopted as her own.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Marilyn Fanning; her son, Roy Peters; three sisters and a brother.

Mary is survived by her husband, Pete of the home; two daughters, Arlene Ellison and husband, Jim of El Reno, OK and Joan Ellison and husband, Guy of Calumet, OK; two sons, Gene Peters and wife, Glenna of Geary, OK and Jim Peters and wife, Barbara of Geary, OK; and a dozen grandkids, a passel of great-grandkids and a bunch of other relatives too numerous to mention.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor Paul E. Meyer of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be Adam Ellison, Chad Ellison, William Cody Ellison, Robert Ellison, Jim Ellison, Jr. and Guy Ellison.
