I am extremely sorry for your loss! My grandma (Esperanza "Hope" Rosales)  and Mary where extremely good friends for many many years! Before my grandma passed away I always remember her sharing stories of Mary, and anytime they had a chance to talk on the phone or visit it always put a smile on her face!! She was a wonderful and dear friend to my grandma! And I am sure they are in heaven together sharing stories like they did when they would talk on the phone! You and your family are in my prayers!

Dear Nicholas Family,

Cousin Sha-Short is precious to our family.  It meant so much that she, along with Stephanie, came to see Mama here in Little Rock last Summer.  As you know, Mama passed away in September a few weeks after that visit.   We can only believe that Sha-Short and Zoe are two precious cousins and souls reunited in Heaven and rejoicing together.  We will be thinking of your family and praying for God's peace and comfort to all of you.

Mary was a wonderful lady - beautiful inside and out.  I will never forget her laugh and the twinkle in her eye, in fact, I can hear and see it in my mind's eye even now.  She was always there for our family.  She will be missed.



I have such a great memory of celebrating Christmas Eve with your family. It was many years ago after attending Christmas Eve Mass at Bergstrom. This family friendship has been enjoyed in 2 different states where we both lived. I was very sad to hear the news. I know your hearts are heavy. Mrs. Nicholas did an amazing job, along with Mr. Nicholas, in raising a family that is truly a class act. You will surely honor her with your legacy. And for now, a reunion of friendship takes place with our families in heaven. 



Dear Stephanie ,I'm very sorry about your mother, As you know your mom and my mom, Hope, were very close friends.  Mary was a very sweet person and I will miss her and her beautiful smile. 



I was so sorry to hear of Mary's passing but am glad she is no longer in pain. We met at the Santa Cruz Women's Club, sold tickets together, and visited a lot. Although most of the time I go to church at a different parish the times I would come to Santa Cruz she would always greet me with a big hug. I will miss her.  I am out of the state and will miss her funeral but she will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Inspirational, caring, loving, motivational. These are only a few words that can describe Mary Nicholas. She was at times a bit grouchy but was also the best and most memorable woman in my life. She always pushed me to better myself and never gave up on me. She was the one who kept me going even in the hardest times in my life. Especially when my mother and father passed away. To me she wasn't just a family friend she was like my second mother. She was the reason for my family staying together and in peace. She motivated me by telling me that I could do things I never found possible. She is the reason i have my own house and also the reason I am successful. Her encouraging words kept me going. I remember visiting her at her house and although she was very busy she never once turned us away. She always made the time to spend with not only myself but my family too. She was like a grandmother to my five children. She loved all of them like they were her own grandchildren. One of there favorite memories of her was the way she always asked for tamales during the holidays. Something that my wife and kids enjoyed doing for her. She may be gone but we will cherish her memory. She will be missed but never forgotten. 



Was so sorry to hear of the death of your mother. I'm sure u will miss her very much but remember that your memories of her will be with you forever in your mind and heart. Cousin Mary, I loved you to death and always will. Thank you for your comforting words when my heart was so filled with pain from the loss of my mom. You knew just what to say to help ease the heart ache... Cousin you are/were a remarkable lady... I enjoyed being in your presence, in your company. I especially enjoyed all our conversation in French each time I called. Then there was the summer of 2007 before Cousin Orren's passing that we drove to Buda and I spent time with you and Cousin Orren... I cherished each and every moment we shared....You have been an inspiration to all  lives you have touched. I will truly miss you...  I know you have no more sufferings... and you are in the arms of the Lord In that golden  kingdom of Heaven.... May you have eternal rest forever... I Love You...

Aunt Sha Short, I want you to know that you will be missed by a niece and a friend. Many people love relatives because that's the way it's supposed to be. I love you because you were a truly wonderful person. You always made me feel like you cared for me as a person first, then as a niece. I am grateful to God that he made our paths cross. There are no words that can heal the pain of losing a Mother.  I have felt that pain every day since last year.  Just know that her soul is in a better place and she is in good hands.  Your Cousin Byron.



Mrs. Nicholas was a very special, long time friend to my mom, who passed away July 2012, to my dad and me and my sister.  Mrs. Nicholas visited with my mom at Christopher House but my mom was already beginning her journey.  I'll never forget our talk.  It was just Mrs. Nicholas and me.  She offered me very kind and strong words to help comfort and soothe me.  I hadn't seen her many years prior to her visiting but we talked as if she was my aunt whom I talked to everyday.  I'll never forget her caring spirit and her love of life.  I will miss her greatly.



I always enjoyed visiting with Mary  when she came to pick up her grandchildren.  She was a very sweet women and very loving. Mary will be missed but I know she is in a better place with our Lord.

Mary we are going to miss you so very much. I have known you since I was about 10 years old and I cherish all the memories our families have had together. I always remember you calling me "missy" to this day. I am so glad my husband got to meet you and see what a beautfiful person you are. Your faith was amazing and your love never ending. We love  you and will miss you tremendously. 



we all have mentors that help us navigate thru, at various stages of our life. Mrs. "mom" Nicholas is this person to me. during my teenage years and my struggles with finding my own way into young womanhood, she was always there to guide me with kind words and reassurance. her commitment to easing any anxieties present in the drama filled teenage moments of my life were always met with my gratefulness and appreciation towards her. For she possessed a rich understanding into the realities of life, what it means to love, and, most importantly, how to greet every challenge with a grace, southern charm and maybe the tiniest bit of sarcasm. but what i hold holy within me is what i treasure most about her. her work ethic, her capacity for forgiveness, her understanding, her unwavering faith, a belief in all of what we are each truly capable of and a precious gift of unconditional love towards all in her heart. "mom" i'll never ever be able to thank you enough for bringing my best friends since high school "it" into this world. he's a good and kind gentlemen, a loyal husband, father and friend. i've a feeling he'll miss your sparring to keep him on the path he was meant to travel. but i'm betting you'll find a way to make your wishes for his and his family's future clearly known. you're just that kind of women. now that you are safely resting in the arms of your love, i hope you eternally feel the magnitude of love emanating from the general south central Texas area. we love you, we miss you and we miss who you were to each of us, individually grieving for you now. through our faith we know where you are, is where you are meant to be. but our hearts? we struggle with the wanting of a final hug, a final smile, some last twinkle in your eye letting us know how you see us gathered together for you now. may our silent grief gradually make way for a simple prayer of hope. to see, to hug, to laugh with you once again, we pray. i love you always, "mom". Aunt Mary,

I will mis you so much.  I loved all the long conversation you and Uncle Oren held with me even when I was 13 yrs old!!!  You guys would "talk politics or economics" with me even then.  I fondly remember the summer that I spent at your home when you were awaiting Kevin's arrival.  i loved the way that you seemed to have endless energy and how much you loved "Di".  You told me so much about your early life and I will cherish that forever.  Rest in peace Aunt Mary.  love your niece Gloria.   



Mary made the world a better place. Her devotion to her family was inspirational. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 







When my sisters and I gathered around mom on her last day with us our hearts were torn and sadness was filled our thoughts, but Deacon Ray gave us comfort by reminding us that this was a time to be filled with joy For Maryâ€™s suffering has ended and her reward of eternal salvation have been fulfilled for she has risen to meet our Lord. I will miss my mom but will never forget all of the wonderful times we shared. I love you with all my heart may your soul find PEACE in Gods Kingdom.
